- Fine tune your opportunity- I did several interviews off line with other people that I actually knew from surfing with them, and they really liked the idea.
- Fine tune the "who." – I did speak to the right customer group the last time and this time. My opportunity is for a niche market.
- Tweaking your interview questions- I did ask a few different questions this time. I was really trying not to ask any kind of leading questions. I really wanted true feedback from my potential end users of the service.
- Go talk to customers!- Got to interview five new strangers or potential customers.
- Tell us what you learned about the opportunity- I feel more and more confident that my idea is something that people would actually use.
- Tell us what you learned about interviewing customers-Tip 1) Be yourself when speaking to people that you do not know. If your nervous they will be too.Tip 2) If your idea is something that you are passionate about then you will love talking to anyone about it.Tip 3) Make sure you are in the right environment to talk about your idea. My idea would serve the surfing industry so I didn’t go to the mall to talk to surfers …..I went to the beach. Make sure you fit in. Don’t try to interview a surfer on the beach wearing a three piece suit. It just doesn’t work. Make them comfortable. Meet them where they are. Enjoy the exercise; you might just make a new friend.

Hey James! I thought you interviewed the right group of people for your product. You were also very natural and comfortable when you were interviewing your customers, which I think helped them to give you better and more reliable answers. Your idea sounds awesome! I've only surfed once, and I quickly realized I didn't have the arm strength to paddle out for long periods of time, so a zip line could be really helpful for beginners especially.
ReplyDeleteHey James,
ReplyDeleteGreat jobs with the interview you were natural and made them laugh most of the time, that's real friendly. I like the idea and it would be nice of you to truly help the surfer community in that way. I wish the best of luck moving forward! http://ent3003brandonsanchez.blogspot.com/2016/02/interviewing-customers-part-2.html
Hey James,
ReplyDeleteI think you could some more organisation in your post. That being said your content was quite impeccable. I enjoyed how you carried yourself through your interviews I think your venture in a niche market seems like it has a lot of potential. I kept mine very simple and quick.
